US e.l.f. store offers 55% off the entire store on Cyber Monday!

Oh damn... and I have no-one to get me that bloody parcel
 from the bloody States :S
pic is copied from e.l.f.'s homepage
Folks in US - try the Studio brushes
Folks in the rest of the world - I'll guess we'll just have to support each other
in our disappointment and envy...

Fair liquid foundations / heledad jumestuskreemid: Lumene, Gosh & Bourjois

I've swatched some low end liquid foundations on the pale skin:
Lumene Natural Code in Vanilla is the lightest and most neutral undertone.
Gosh X-ceptional wear Porcelain is considerably more orange (red undertone)
Bourjois Healthy Mix in Vanille Claire was the lightest color available at our Kaubamaja (closest big mall), but here darkest of the three, also with red undertone.

Coastal Scents sale: 33% off everything 26-29 November

pic is property of Coastal Scents (I hope they will not mind me using it)
Tegemist on hulgilaoga, saatmiskulud on suured.

PS! Vaadake ka Jessica Allisoni blogisse, sinna on pisike ports erinevaid sooduspakkumisi kokku koondatud.

The Conservatorie pre-made foundations swatched

Took me a long time but here they finally are: swatches of The Conservatorie's pre-made foundations. The Conservatorie has changed (thank God) their very confusing color system (Caramel, Honey, Rousillon etc) and no longer offers 3 different formulas. Now there's only two: regular and matte.

Here are the colors I purchased:

Bare Foundation Matte-Barely Beige
Bare Foundation Matte-Barely Golden
Bare Foundation Matte-Light Golden
Bare Foundation Matte-Lightly Suntanned
Bare Foundation Matte-Medium Beige
Bare Foundation Matte-Summer Tan
Bare Foundation Matte-Deepest Beige
Bare Foundation Matte-Light Navajo
Bare Foundation Matte-Navajo

Bare Foundation - Barely Beige
Bare Foundation - Barely Golden
Bare Foundation - Light Golden
Bare Foundation - Lightly Suntanned
Bare Foundation - Medium Beige

I have some The Consevatorie's pre-made foundation testers and a whole ounce of Caramel Light in Deluxe formula, which is wearable only during summer, bought 2 years ago. That was then the fairest available color in the entire batch. It's color-wise somewhere between Barely Golden and Light Golden, I'd say.

Too much orange and yellow, no light olive tones in the foundation selection. Barely Beige has a pink undertone, it's not a neutral color. Of all these here, it's still the only one I can wear. Barely Golden might be a good summer color.

Conservatorie mineraalpuuder tundub olema väikese kuni keskmise katvusega. Vajab tugevamat niisutust. Pildil kasutasin Bare Beige matti versiooni, silmade alla panin selle läikivamat versiooni. Medium Beige'i peaks põsepunana proovima, tundub täitsa roosa.
Iseenesest on seal ka väga ilusaid eriotstarbelisi vilgusegusid, soovitan kindlasti korvi poetada Shimmering Nude (sädelev tagasihoidlik roosa), Pink (Green) Interference (huvitav roosakasbeež millel rohekas läige), Salmon Interference (huvitav roosa-beeži laadne kirjeldamatu toon), Antique Gold (puhas tumedam kuld), Super Brilliant Mocha Mica (üliefektne sädelev pruun). Väga kenad toonid. Nende swatchid on kusagil vanemates postitustes.

PS! Kuna tegin Cyber Monday'l uue testritellimuse, on peatselt oodata veel 22 erineva Conservatorie vilgusegu swatche.

e.l.f. stipple brush

Lovely.
Well done again, e.l.f.
Compared with e.l.f. studio series' powder brush

This is the latest addition to the Studio series' brush family, stippler itself is a bit on the small side but it works just fine. It's small size is actually a good thing when working in areas near mouth and nose. What amazed me most was that it does not hold on to liquid foundation but applies it all on the skin - I was expecting the brush to be half covered in foundation but after I had finished applying it to my face, the brush looked only slightly more beige then before and the bristles felt clean to the touch. If I were a liquid foundy girl, this would be a priceless brush indeed.
Comparison with e.l.f. studio powder brush and The Conservatorie's brandless angled blush brush

Other reviews have accused it to be too flimsy but I cannot agree - unlike buffing, stippling is done with a light hand and minimum amount of product. The brush is sturdy enough for stippling. Lost a hair though, a dark one, otherwise - no shedding. Application takes a lot of time though - diameter of the brush head is still a bit on the small side (like MAC 188, which is approximately  half the size of MAC 187).
Left to right: e.l.f. Stippler, The Makeup Brush Company's blush brush, Ecotools' blush brush, e.l.f. Studio blush brush (pretty useless compared to the others, if you ask me) and the Conservatorie's brandless angled blush brush
It also does a marvelous job applying blush - you really  cannot loose when getting this brush. Just like all the other e.l.f. Studio brushes this one feels nice and soft on the skin.

I do NOT recommend this for dry mineral powder though, one might end up sitting in a cloud of dust. I will try it for wet application, I see great possibilities there.

The brush costs $3 on e.l.f.'s US homepage and all the Studio range is 50% off until 24.11.2010 if purchase more then 20 $ worth (code: HOLSTU). A complete bargain! The EU folks can just watch and turn green in envy.

Lumene Natural Code foundation in Vanilla
TKB's Gemini as blush
TKB's Travel to Venus all over lid

Minu meelest sai tulemus ikka vägagi bro.

Dr.Scheller's moisturizer with argan oil & amaranth

Since the old cream (on the right) is almost done with got myself a new one (left). I only buy these on sale (which occurs almost monthly in my local supermarket - thank you, Selver). Dr.Scheller's products are from Germany, have all kinds of different nature cosmetics certificates and have won all sorts of awards. This time I got the Pomegranate facial toner and their most expensive anti-wrinkle day cream with amaranth and argan oil.
First impression on the cream was, well, that the scent is not as pleasant as the previous one (thistle and chiaseeds) had. Both creams are day creams and therefore a bit light in consistency. I could not use them (for going outside) during winter on the really cold days. Since the autumn is long, wet and mostly warm (warm to a northerner means above 0C), it'll do great for autumn. For cold times during the winter I shall revert back to trusted Dr. Hauschka.

I could not decide which one to get: the anti-aging creme with amaranth and argan oil or the anti-mimic wrinkles cream with blackcurrant and marula, the latter smells delicious but was not on sale at the time.
Ingredients are natural, texture is nice and smell, well ok, could be better but still, it's ok. The facial toner on the other hand smells great and seems to work great too. After using it my pores sure seem to shrink if judged my the feeling on my skin (contains alcochol).

Ingredients for the cream: Aqua, Glycerin, Prunus Armeniaca Kernel Oil*. Glycine Soja Oil*, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil*, Hydrogenetad Coconut Oil, Decyl Oleate, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Squalane, Cetearyl Glucoside, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Amaranthus Caudatus Seed Extract, Mauritia Flexuosa Fruit Oil*, Spilanthes Acmella Flower Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tocopherol, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Lecithin, Xanthan Gum, Benzyl Alcohol, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Alcohol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Ascorbic Acid, Citric Acid, Parfum, Limonene**, Citral**,  Linalool**, Geraniol**, Citronellol**, Coumarin**.

See peaks olema kalleim kreem dr.Schelleri valikus. Vaatasin samal ajal ka poes mustasõstra ning marula miimikakortsude vastast kreemi kuid kuna too ei olnud parasjagu soodusmüügis, jätsin tolle riiulile järgmiseks korraks.
Kreem on mõnusa vedela struktuuriga kuid selle lõhn võib inimesele, kes pole taimsete toodetega eriti harjunud, veidi vastu käia. Mustasõstrakreem oli palju parema lõhnaga. Kreem imendub kiiresti ja sobib seetõttu hästi mineraalpuudri alla niisutajaks.
Ma alati vingun, et Dr. Schelleri kreemid pole talveks piisavalt rasvased - ja alles nüüd koitis mulle, et ma olen ju alati päevakreemid valinud. Mine tea - võibolla oleks just see rasvasem öökreem meie külmemapoolsetel talvepäevadel heaks päevakreemiks?

EOTD Cancerian Heat from Thursday

I'm too lazy recently to try and use multiple colors on eyes, skin is a bit weird too, it wants to be left alone, powder turns into a complete mess, especially around the nose. Sink is emitting lots of grease and flaking at the same time. Makeup looks good only until mid-day, then it becomes increasingly awful. The dark season is upon us so it does not show as much as it would during summer. Taking pics is hampered too, these are taken at 9 am and I barely had enough light to take them.

Stuff used:
TKB's Cancerian Heat all over lid, blended upwards with Ivory Lace
EDM's Fair Neutral in intensive as base (same color as neck)
TKB's Strawberry as blush
EDM's Pearl Sunlight under the eyes
silica microspheres on top of everything

Koostise poolest on mineraalne kosmeetika sarnane mesoteraapia preparaatidega.
BellaPierre kosmeetika eesmärgiks on anda nahale meik koos raviga.

Kuigi jah, ma tahaks teada, kuidas mineraalid naha niiskustasakaalu reguleerivad... minu kogemus ütleb: kuivatab, teinekord liigagi.

Kuidas?

Minerals.Planet on oma tekstiga väga palju vaeva näinud ja meeldib mulle vast veel kõige rohkemgi, tekst on tehtud inimese poolt, kelle emakeel pole eesti keel. Vaid need kaks lõiku on kahtlased:

Here I took some passages from local MMU e-shops' web pages to compare the info they present. Some stated "facts" are ludicrous but most are very pleasant read. Those who have been on the market for a longer time and KNOW their product, tend not to bullshit their potential clients.

About MMU and how people have extremely high expectations regarding it - according to salespeople it moisturizes, "feeds", protects and sooths the skin. Imho it's just ordinary makeup which does not harm the skin - a good thing in itself. Those high expectations will not be met and people will be disappointed.

Soon to come e.l.f. haul - brushes

I had no idea e.l.f. carried a stippler. Did you?
e.l.f. had a nice offer recently - 50% off some selected stuff so I went to look and ended up ordering the new Studio Stipple brush  - cant wait to get my hands on it now... it was so nice of a colleague going to US to agree to pick up a parcel for me. I'll be getting the parcel on November 21st if all goes well.
Here's RoxyJ's blog post on the new addition to the Studio set and her youtube review.
They also had a new angled contour  brush in the studio series and a lash/brow comb thingy. Mineral brush series is also expanding but the reviews on those have been mostly devastating. Since they are more expensive too ($5 a piece), people have higher hopes.

First custom made palette

Friend of a friend ordered this set of 9 colors. I hope she'll like it, took me 3,5 hours to press the set. I should try to get some nice patterned ribbon or something to make them look more professional. One pan contains a lot of pigment, I was surprised at the amount I was able to squeeze into them.

Price for the full palette is 415 to 450 kr (ca 27-29 EUR) depending on the "difficulty" of a pigment. Some of these buggers are a tad difficult to press. 35 kr per color and the palette itself cost me almost 100 kr with all the duties and taxes...

EOTD Patagonian Purple from last Thursday

TKB's Patagonian Purple all over lid, Champagne on the browbone and used to blend in the crease. I'm very proud of the blending, turned out great. Patagonian Purple is a surprisingly wearable color, purples usually look like bruises on me.
Dermoshop's fairest foundie, which to my small disappointment, seems to have a sheen (magnifies pores). Also - it's getting a bit too orange for winter.
I'm hitting the bottom of my first pressed shadow (Champagne of course!).

More giveaways to enter :)

I'm not going to enter them all, I just am not so interested in mainstream lines, more an eco-gal myself, but at least I'll do my share by informing my readers:

Julie from Musings of a Makeup Maniac is holding a MAC giveaway to celebrate her 100 followers (ending November 13). Winner gets to choose a MAC lipstick and eyeshadow of their choice.

Jenn from Spiced Beauty is also holding a giveaway and forking out her back-ups from MAC. Contest ends on November 21.

Joy from All Made Up is organizing a big Christmas giveaway, deadline for entering is December 1st.
Evelyn from Beauty Ambition is celebrating her 600 followers and holding a giveaway for them: UD Book of Shadows vol III. Deadline for entering is December 3rd.

Last but not the least is Lisa from Golden Glow, who would like to give a Christmas present to one of the followers. Deadline for entering is December 10th.

Nea's international giveaway

Nea at Fashioned in Finland is also holding a giveaway this month and the  prizes are wonderful :) : Shu Uemura's eyelash curler and 2 Sleek palettes. Some TKB samples are also in the mix but I think I pretty much have all of those already. Storm is one of the most sought-after Sleek palettes and imho the crown of the prize. Deadline for entering is December 3rd :)
Chance to win is a bit on the slim side, since she already has a huge amount of followers who are probably all entering the giveaway.

Seebid/Soaps from Rossmann

Less is more - i'm pretty sure it applies to soaps as well. Soaps in eco-shops are bloody expensive (for me at least, starting from 3 EUR a piece)  so I've decided to try something less expensive and cheap. Produced by Germans and one can read more about them here.
Ingredients are: Sodium Palmate, Sodium Cocoate, water, Glycerin, Parfum (why?), Sodium Chloride and Tetrasodium Etidronate. Some ingredients are represented only in a specific soap so I left those out. What matters are the first 4 ingredients that make up most of the soap and these seem to be ok. I guess anything coming after "Parfum" must have quite a marginal share in the overall amount of ingredients.

I've tried the Buttermilch one (made with milk powder - tegelikult küll lõssipulber) and it's very nice on the skin, no rashes so far. Foam is silky and there's plenty of it. It dries out my skin like all soaps do but at least I do not soak my skin in a cocktail of different chemicals while bathing. Yellow one is honey soap and the green one is aloe vera. I did not see the algae soap, which also has some good reviews - would have wanted to try out that one too.

Seebid on ostetud Watsonist, mille kohta käivad kuulujutud, et hakkab pankrotti minema. Hetkel saab seebi 12 krooniga kätte, tavahind vist mingi 14-15 kr. Väljamaal on nende seepide hind samuti alla ühe euro.

Emily's giveaway

Emily's blog Emily van der Hell is holding a big birthday-giveaway. It's open to all  EU residents (thank you Emily!).
pic from Emily's blog
This is quite a large event and 4 sets are given away, deadline is November 28. May I please direct your attention to the gorgeous Sigma brushes, which are in Set number 4? Manhattans Wildberry palette in set 3? cute jewelry in sets 1 and 2 and generous gift cards? definitely entering!

See loosimine on avatud kõigi EU elanike jaoks! Saksa keele oskus tuleb kasuks.

Another big international giveaway from Blix!

It seems Christmas comes early this year: another big giveaway by Blix from the Glitter is my crack. It's mainly Morgana Cryptoria's eye pigment collections (Haunted Eyes and Cleopatra, swatches can be seen here) and Blix has added some jewelery she sells in her Etsy store too. This necklace would look perfect around my pale neck, n'est-ce pas?

MakeupTalk's MAC giveaway!

I have been on MakeupTalk since May 2008, when I first discovered their mineral makeup subforum. Next to MakeupAlley it's my main source of makeup-related information. The wonderful thing is: MakeupTalk  is organizing a nice juicy giveaway! 3 MAC gift cards are going to be given up as prizes amongst the participating beauty bloggers. Please do go check it out!

Deadline is November 29th!
